Why must we procrastinate on the things that seem the most important to us?
On any given day off, a six-point organized list may be something to get me moving. It might not be for everyone (although some would argue it should be) it gives me some outline for my day, while leaving time in between to complete other unrelated personal tasks. Yet still, after feeling motivated about what I will get done, most days there is either one or two points that I skip over. Maybe I skip over point number three -reaching out to that connection from LinkedIn- because the stress around another unanswered email takes a toll on the positive internal dialogue, I have worked so hard to maintain. Or maybe I skip over everything and hit point six – making me feel as if I have completed more on my list than what I have actually done. With many different reasons as to why the stress and fear of reaching our monumental moments holds us back, I challenge each and every individual to evaluate their internal motivation and find what will help them accomplish this goal. Maybe for some talking it over with a friend may be helpful, or others seek out meditation in order to gain the momentum they need. There is no one answer, there is just the outcome of feeling fuller and happier on the other side. Because for you, it is long overdue.
So, go reach out to the person in your field. It’s long overdue.
Get up off your couch and do those squats. It’s long overdue.
Seek out the people who make you feel whole. It’s long overdue.
Go share the words with the people you care about the most. It’s long overdue.
